Occupation is a series of work produced over the quarantine period. Each piece aims to represent the feelings of boredom, isolation, or entrapment felt during the lockdown. The 6 pieces were first shown at the Inside Out Art Exhibition, a self organised exhibition to display work produced over the lockdown by five local Barcelona artists.

Tipping Point

Tipping Point places a bulb between a concrete pyramid and base to create an uneasy feeling that everything could come falling down at any moment.

* the lamp looks the exact same in 360 degrees, the structure supporting the top was built into the bulb.

The Chase

The Chase features 10 switches connected in series around a single bulb.  The wiring of the switches means that there is a 1/1024 chance of getting the light to turn on.

The idea was to present a huge amount of choice to the user at a time when choices were severely limited.

Pointless

The final lamp of the Occupation series sees a bulb surrounded by a 3cm wide, 6cm deep concrete slab. Without enough room to be unscrewed, the bulb can never be replaced. In the end it doesn't matter because it is not even connected.

Actually the bulb doesn't do anything. The switch on top lights an LED strip embedded into the square to highlight the bulb in all its pointless glory
